Google initially had its sights set on launching its premier AI model, Gemini 3.5 Pro, in June 2026. However, the tech giant has now shifted the release date to July. The postponement stems from the model's programming capabilities falling short of initial expectations, prompting Google to seize this additional time to further refine and optimize the model. Earlier, Google offered a sneak peek of the model at its May I/O Developer Conference, announcing its integration into core products like Search and Maps. At present, Google is engaged in testing models akin to 3.5 Pro with select partners and is in active dialogue with the U.S. government concerning AI safety standards. Google underscored that, amidst its swift rollout of diverse models, it remains committed to delivering high cost-efficiency for its clientele.
