Linux founder Linus Torvalds shared his views on the AI controversy in the kernel discussion community. The controversy stemmed from Sashiko, an AI patch review tool under the Linux Foundation with computing power provided by Google. This tool, already operational in production environments, can automatically monitor relevant mailing lists. Developers hold differing opinions on this tool. Andrew Morton expressed support, believing its hit rate on issues warrants developer verification. Lorenzo Stoakes, on the other hand, opposed it, stating that its review comments contain numerous 'hallucinations' and errors, actually increasing workload. In response, Torvalds stated that Linux does not oppose the use of AI. He believes AI helps in discovering bugs and pointed out that human intelligence also makes mistakes, emphasizing that Linux is not a 'social justice project'.
