On July 10, the Financial Times, a renowned British media outlet, reported that Tencent is currently engaged in discussions with the aim of becoming the largest shareholder of AI startup Manus. Previously, a proposed acquisition deal between Meta Platforms and Manus, valued at over $2 billion and slated for completion by the end of 2025, has been subject to a request for revocation. Existing investors in Manus, a group that encompasses Tencent, Sequoia China, ZhenFund, and the management team of the company itself, are actively participating in talks to facilitate the revocation of Meta's acquisition bid, which was based on a valuation of $2 billion. These discussions are still in progress, and there is a possibility of new investors joining the fray. Tencent is anticipated to acquire the largest number of shares, although it will maintain a minority stake in the company.
