The 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) and High-Level Conference on Global AI Governance are set to take place in Shanghai from July 17 to 20. According to the Deputy Director-General of the Science and Technology Department at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the annual production of complete humanoid robots is projected to exceed 100,000 units this year. In China’s industrial enterprises above a designated size—typically referring to larger-scale businesses subject to specific regulatory standards—the penetration rate of AI applications has already surpassed 30%. Humanoid robots are now gradually being integrated into factory floors and workshops. The Ministry is working closely with multiple stakeholders to roll out targeted programs aimed at identifying and developing high-value application scenarios for AI. Additionally, during the conference, the China-BRICS AI Development and Cooperation Center will unveil the "International AI Ethics Governance Action Plan," underscoring a commitment to shaping ethical frameworks for AI on a global scale.
