On July 4, reports surfaced indicating that Tesla had announced a new policy to curb employee expenditures on AI tools, effective from July 6. Under this policy, each employee will be subject to a weekly spending cap of $200 on AI tools. Any expenses surpassing this threshold will necessitate approval from a supervisor. Notably, the usage of the Grok model, developed by Musk's xAI, is exempt from this spending limit. However, it's worth mentioning that Grok has not gained widespread adoption among Tesla's workforce, with the majority of employees still favoring Claude, an AI tool from Anthropic. This move by Tesla follows in the footsteps of several other U.S. tech companies that have also implemented similar cost-control measures in recent times.
