The special governance campaign for "AI-altered" videos, launched in January 2026, has begun to show initial results. As of June, some key online audio-visual platforms have removed nearly 7,600 violating videos in total and penalized over 20 accounts for violations. To consolidate these achievements, starting from February 1st, the governance efforts have transitioned into a regularized and institutionalized phase, overseeing platforms to fulfill their primary responsibilities, strengthen daily inspections, and focus on removing violating content such as "AI-altered" versions of classic film and television works including the Four Great Classical Novels, historical themes, revolutionary themes, and works featuring heroic and exemplary figures, as well as various types of heretical animations. Data shows a continuous decline in the number of violating videos over the past two months, with over 11,000 videos removed and over 10 accounts penalized in April, and over 8,000 videos removed and over 20 accounts penalized in May.
