According to reports, Panasonic, a former titan in the global consumer electronics arena, has been steadily pivoting away from its traditional home appliance business in recent years. Instead, it has emerged as a pivotal battery supplier for Tesla. Panasonic is setting its sights on achieving sales of around 1.4 trillion yen in AI infrastructure-related ventures within the next three years, a goal it aims to reach through strategic collaborations with industry frontrunners. Notably, Panasonic has recently unveiled plans to inject approximately 500 billion yen into this burgeoning sector over the forthcoming two fiscal years. Concurrently, the company is also ramping up its planned workforce reductions, expanding the number of layoffs from 10,000 to 12,000 employees, in a bid to realize cost savings of 145 billion yen by the 2024 fiscal year.
