Early this morning, OpenAI announced an upgrade to ChatGPT's default model, GPT-5.5 Instant, with a focus on optimizing everyday interaction experiences. This includes high-frequency scenarios such as suggestion generation, plan comparison, shopping decisions, and information inquiries. The upgrade enhances the model's ability to understand user intent, particularly in handling implicit meanings and complex constraints, delivering more stable performance. In shopping recommendations and local service scenarios, the new model provides more coherent and practical responses. Previously, GPT-5.5 Instant had already reduced hallucination rates by 52.5% in fields like medicine and law, while improving mathematical and visual reasoning capabilities. This upgrade takes effect immediately for paid users, with free users gaining access on June 26.
