The aim is to provide a broad-spectrum preventive solution for potential large-scale viral outbreaks and pandemics similar to COVID-19 in the future. Researchers stated that this marks the first case where a critical vaccine antigen has been entirely designed by AI algorithms and advanced to human clinical trials. The goal is not only to address SARS-CoV-2 and its variants but also to target multiple coronaviruses with the potential for cross-species transmission to humans, thereby preemptively guarding against the next pandemic.
