During the launch of its latest flagship model, the MiniMax-M3, Xiru Technology unilaterally transitioned its subscription billing system from a per-query model to a Token-based system, without prior notification to its existing user base. This move triggered widespread dissatisfaction and a surge of complaints from developers. In response, the company issued a formal apology, acknowledging that the failure to communicate in advance and the mishandling of weekly limits for current users had led to significant inconveniences.

The company clarified that the new billing model demanded additional computational resources, necessitating a revised pricing structure. Furthermore, the shift to a Token-based system was intended to provide users with greater flexibility in allocating their subscription quotas across various modal models. To retain its subscribers, MiniMax introduced a compensation scheme: Subscriptions purchased before March 22, 2026, which originally featured no weekly limits, will continue to enjoy unlimited weekly access for the upgraded M2.7 and M3 models. Subscriptions bought between March 22, 2026, and 10:00 AM on June 5 will benefit from a permanent 50% increase in their weekly M3 limit for the entire duration of their validity. Additionally, the company will reset all subscription quotas, doubling both the 5-hour and weekly usage limits for all subscribers by June 7.
