At the main forum of the Tencent Cloud AI Industry Application Conference, Yao Shunyu, the Chief AI Scientist at Tencent, shared two pivotal insights regarding the future evolution of AI. Firstly, he emphasized that AI signifies a long-term developmental trajectory rather than a fleeting opportunity. He cautioned against the short-sighted mentality prevalent among some Silicon Valley practitioners, who aim to "make a quick buck for a couple of years and then bow out." Yao asserted that AI is still in its nascent stages, and that ChatGPT and Claude Code will not be the sole super applications to dominate the landscape. Instead, he predicted that new product opportunities will continually surface in the future, likening the current scenario to the early days of personal computers in the 1970s.

Secondly, Yao highlighted that AI is poised to embark on a path of diversified development, rather than being confined to a singular trajectory. Over the past few years, the industry has predominantly progressed along the lines of pre-training, post-training, and Agents. However, he pointed out that beyond Coding Agents, a multitude of new directions are either already emerging or are on the cusp of doing so, such as multimodality and embodied AI. Yao underscored that there remains "a vast expanse of uncharted territory" to explore within the realm of AI.
