At the OpenAI Voice Hack Night event, a team showcased a prototype of an 'Agentic Operating System' designed for mobile phones. This system eliminates the need for traditional apps, with its interface local generated instantly by an on-device model, while heavy reasoning tasks are offloaded to cloud-based GPT for processing. Developers can complete tasks such as booking flights, deleting calendar events, finding AI news, sending emails, and listing to-do items through voice commands. OpenAI plans to achieve mass production of this system in the first half of 2027.
