ByteDance is currently deliberating over a spending plan that could see an investment of up to $70 billion (approximately 475.909 billion yuan) this year, with the primary focus on constructing data centers and other AI-related infrastructures. A substantial share of these funds is expected to be sourced from its projected profit of around $50 billion (approximately 339.935 billion yuan) in 2025. At present, this spending figure is merely a preliminary plan and is subject to quarterly adjustments. The anticipated capital expenditure for this year is projected to fall within the range of 400 billion to 500 billion yuan. If the economic and business climate remains positive, capital expenditure could surge to approximately $100 billion (around 679.871 billion yuan) next year, marking a significant increase from the roughly $25 billion spent last year. This strategic move is poised to bolster ByteDance's dominant position in fields such as AI chatbots and video generation, while also amplifying its global reach. Considering that the cost of data center construction in China is comparatively lower than in the US, ByteDance may be able to construct AI computing infrastructure of a similar scale at a reduced cost. Furthermore, ByteDance has recently inked a deal to procure millions of Qualcomm chips to bolster its AI Agent services.
