Today, Alipay convened the AI Payment Ecosystem Conference. During the event, Zhuang Pan, the Dean of Ant Group Research Institute, highlighted that tokens, data, and tools constitute the core production factors for intelligent agents. He forecasted that by 2030, token consumption would skyrocket more than 300 times, driven by 2.2 billion active intelligent agents executing up to 400 trillion tasks each year. According to the National Data Resources Survey Report (2025), the average daily token calls in China escalated from over one trillion at the start of 2025 to 100 trillion by year-end, culminating in a staggering total of approximately 21,100 trillion for the entire year. As the fundamental units of information processed by large artificial intelligence models, tokens are rapidly gaining prominence.
