Kaihong OS has unveiled China’s inaugural robot operating system, M-Robots OS 2.0, which is rooted in open-source HarmonyOS. Leveraging the robust foundation of open-source HarmonyOS, this system showcases four fundamental capabilities, notably facilitating real-time collaboration among multiple robots. It establishes a comprehensive full-stack system platform that harmonizes at the base level while offering versatility across various application scenarios. After the launch of Version 1.0 in April 2025, the project witnessed swift advancement, with its code being made publicly accessible in July and subsequently contributed to the OpenAtom Open Source Foundation in November. Additionally, an autonomous Project Management Committee (PMC) was instituted, accompanied by the formation of 16 specialized SIG working groups. M-Robots OS Version 2.0 has undergone significant enhancements and now encompasses six key capabilities: a modular architecture, hybrid deployment options, M-DDS for low-latency collaboration, shared hardware capabilities and algorithms, built-in AI support, and compatibility with a middleware ecosystem.
