During the initial five months of 2026, the global tech sector has experienced more than 100,000 job cuts, with no indication that the current trend is waning. While AI is not the only reason behind these layoffs, it is increasingly recognized as one of the key forces propelling this wave of job reductions. Particularly noteworthy is Meta, which has declared its shift towards AI.
