On May 21, 2026, Tencent Hunyuan unveiled that its cutting-edge translation model, Hy-MT2, has been officially released as open source. This model is available in three variants: Hy-MT2-1.8B, Hy-MT2-7B, and Hy-MT2-30B-A3B. Each variant supports translation across 33 global languages and 5 ethnic Chinese languages/dialects. Notably, the compact 1.8B model is remarkably lightweight, occupying only 440MB of storage space. This compact size allows for seamless local deployment on consumer devices like smartphones, facilitating offline translation capabilities. Furthermore, Tencent has introduced the 'Tencent Hy Translation' mini-program, which not only supports voice input but also offers customizable translation styles to cater to diverse user preferences.
