Three months before submitting its S-1 filing for an initial public offering, SpaceX acquired xAI, gaining access to its social media platform, consumer chatbot, and the 'Not Safe For Work (NSFW)' features of Grok AI. The filing notes that Grok's NSFW mode is more irreverent and harsher than its standard offerings, potentially posing 'heightened risks' and 'reputational harm,' and warns that it may generate explicit content, involuntary or exploitative imagery, content that infringes on intellectual property rights, as well as harmful, harassing, abusive, or discriminatory content. Additionally, the filing mentions that SpaceX is optimistic about Grok's 'rebellious' AI product, while competitor OpenAI's previously announced plans to venture into the 'adult content' realm have stalled.
