On May 1, 2026, Hangzhou will witness the official implementation of China's inaugural local regulation concerning embodied intelligent robots, namely, the "Regulations on Fostering the Growth of the Embodied Intelligent Robot Industry in Hangzhou." This groundbreaking regulation not only provides a clear-cut definition of embodied intelligent robots but also lays down a robust legal framework for their protection. By 2025, Hangzhou has already amassed a thriving community of over 700 robot-related enterprises, with the output value of its embodied intelligent robot industry cluster soaring to 106.8 billion yuan. The primary objective of this legislation is to shield technological innovations through stringent legal measures and, in turn, propel the high-quality development of the industry.
