On Wednesday local time, individuals with knowledge of the situation revealed that Anthropic is contemplating a fresh round of funding. Post-financing, this move is projected to value the company at over $900 billion, potentially catapulting it past OpenAI to claim the title of the world's most valuable AI unicorn. At present, these discussions are still in their nascent stages, and the company has yet to accept any offers. Notably, Anthropic has previously turned down multiple funding proposals that valued it at over $800 billion.
With significant breakthroughs in its AI software, Anthropic is stepping up its fundraising efforts. The company is also mulling over an Initial Public Offering (IPO) in October, while actively seeking additional infrastructure support. Both Google and Amazon have previously invested in Anthropic at a valuation of $350 billion. However, it's still uncertain whether these tech giants will partake in this upcoming funding round.
Founded by ex-OpenAI staff, Anthropic has swiftly risen to prominence in the AI sector. In early April this year, the company unveiled its latest model, Mythos. Given its high-risk nature, the model is currently restricted to testing by a select group of companies. Nevertheless, a handful of unauthorized users have already gained access to it. It's important to note that market risks persist, and investors are advised to proceed with caution.
