OpenAI anticipates that its newly introduced cheaper, ad-supported plans will attract new users and may lead to tens of millions of paid subscribers downgrading. This year, the number of consumer subscribers is expected to more than double to 122 million, and grow to 306 million by 2030. Among them, the number of ChatGPT Plus subscribers is projected to decline by 80% this year to approximately 9 million, while the number of users on the most expensive Pro plan is expected to double, though it will account for less than 1% of the total. By 2030, advertising is expected to become OpenAI's largest single source of revenue, contributing approximately $102 billion and accounting for about 36% of its total revenue.
