On April 28, Alibaba's DAMO Academy, in partnership with Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital and other esteemed institutions, unveiled an innovative AI model named DAMO COCA, specifically designed for colorectal cancer screening. This cutting-edge model successfully pinpointed 5 instances of colorectal cancer that had been overlooked in a dataset of 27,000 plain CT scans. Demonstrating remarkable accuracy, it achieved a sensitivity rate of 86.6% and a specificity rate of 99.8%, marking a significant milestone by introducing the world's first 'painless' screening method for colorectal cancer.
