At noon today, Tesla made an announcement via Weibo, revealing that its third-generation humanoid robot, the Optimus V3, is poised for a mid-year unveiling. Official production is scheduled to commence in July-August 2026, with the robot expected to be deployed in external scenarios by 2027. The Optimus V3 represents Tesla's inaugural foray into mass-producing robots, boasting the ability to acquire new skills by observing human actions. It is projected to have an impressive annual production capacity of one million units.

This robot comes with a host of comprehensive enhancements across various components. These include actuators, dexterous hands, perception systems, and electronic control mechanisms. Specifically, there has been an increase in the degrees of freedom in harmonic reducers and dexterous hands. Tactile sensors have evolved into a full-body electronic skin, and there is potential for the application of gallium nitride in joint electronic control. By capitalizing on its vertical integration capabilities and extensive expertise in large-scale manufacturing, Tesla is well-positioned to propel the humanoid robot industry from the realm of technological demonstration to economic feasibility.
