On April 23, Douyin made an official announcement regarding the initiation of a dedicated campaign to tackle violations associated with the utilization of AI technology. These violations encompass activities such as face-swapping, unauthorized use of portraits, infringement of intellectual property rights, parodying portraits, and imitation for the purpose of garnering attention.

As of now, more than 538,000 videos that infringe upon AI-related regulations have been taken down, and penalties have been meted out to over 4,000 accounts found to be in violation. Additionally, over 30,000 pieces of inappropriate content, which misled middle-aged and elderly individuals by employing the image of an "AI domineering CEO" (a term referring to a stereotypical, overbearing business leader often depicted in media), have been dealt with. This action involved more than 1,300 accounts.

Douyin has been particularly vigilant in cracking down on infringements that involve the use of AI for face-swapping, as well as the unauthorized use of portraits or voices to create and disseminate misleading content. To date, over 360,000 AI-generated videos created solely for attention-seeking purposes have been removed. Furthermore, 85,000 instances of AI-related infringement involving portraits and voices have been addressed, with graduated penalties being imposed on certain accounts that have committed severe violations.
