Four sources familiar with the matter said that Cursor, an AI programming startup, is about to complete a new round of funding of at least $2 billion. This round of funding is expected to be led by existing investors Thrive and Andreessen Horowitz, with potential participation from new investor Battery Ventures and strategic investor Nvidia also planning to contribute. Prior to the funding, Cursor was valued at $50 billion. Although the funding has been oversubscribed, the terms of the deal have not yet been finalized. If the funding is successful, Cursor's valuation will nearly double compared to six months ago. Despite fierce market competition, Cursor's revenue continues to grow rapidly, with annualized revenue expected to exceed $6 billion by the end of 2026. Previously, the company had negative gross margins, but since launching its proprietary model in November last year, it has achieved a small profit. Currently, Cursor has achieved positive gross margins in sales to large enterprise customers, but its business for individual developer accounts is still operating at a loss. Cursor is reducing its reliance on external suppliers to avoid being replaced. Cursor, formerly known as Anysphere, was co-founded by four individuals in 2022 while they were studying at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
