On April 17, 2026, OpenAI announced a major update to its AI programming agent, Codex, focusing on enhancing automation, image generation, and personalized memory capabilities on the Mac platform. The updated Codex can directly control desktop-level Mac applications through its own cursor, view screen content, and perform clicks, inputs, and other operations to execute tasks.
