Sources close to the situation reveal that Musk’s AI enterprise, xAI, is on the verge of establishing a fresh collaboration with the coding startup, Cursor. Cursor intends to train its AI programming model, Composer 2.5, utilizing xAI’s infrastructure and harnessing the power of tens of thousands of xAI’s graphics processing units (GPUs). This strategic move effectively positions xAI as a cloud service provider, creating a revenue stream through GPU leasing to counterbalance the expenses associated with data center construction and maintenance. Notably, xAI has already onboarded two former Cursor product engineering leads. Additionally, Cursor is currently engaged in discussions to secure funding at an estimated valuation of around $50 billion.
