On April 9, Meta Platforms (META.O) unveiled its first AI model, Muse Spark, following significant investments in talent and infrastructure by CEO Mark Zuckerberg, marking its initial stride in catching up with competitors like OpenAI and Google. Meta released Muse Spark on Wednesday, stating that the model is specifically designed for its diverse range of products. Zuckerberg previously mentioned that while the model may not yet match the capabilities of competitors' most advanced systems, it will provide Meta AI with smarter and faster capabilities. The company stated that Muse Spark will leverage content from Instagram, Facebook, and Threads to deliver more personalized and visually engaging responses. Additionally, Meta indicated that the new model has significant potential in the healthcare sector, having collaborated with over 1,000 doctors to train the model in generating more detailed responses on topics such as nutrition and exercise. With Muse Spark, Meta AI will also introduce a 'shopping mode' to assist users in comparing prices. According to Meta's disclosed evaluation results, Muse Spark outperformed leading models from Google, OpenAI, and Anthropic in certain reasoning and multimodal benchmark tests. Influenced by this news, Meta Platforms' stock rose nearly 6% during U.S. market trading.
