On April 7, it was reported that, according to local time on April 6, Firmus, an Australian AI infrastructure company, successfully concluded a substantial funding round, raising $505 million. This round was spearheaded by Coatue, with significant participation from NVIDIA. With this latest infusion of capital, Firmus now boasts a valuation of $5.5 billion and has set its sights on an initial public offering on the Australian Securities Exchange by the middle of the year. The newly acquired funds are earmarked for the deployment of AI infrastructure across the Asia-Pacific region, propelling forward its ambitious Southgate large-scale computing power construction initiative. The inaugural site for this expansion will be located in Tasmania, where an impressive array of 36,000 NVIDIA AI acceleration chips is slated for installation.
