On April 7, a coalition of ten departments, spearheaded by the Beijing Medical Security Bureau, jointly released the "Several Measures to Foster High-Quality Development of Innovative Medicine in Beijing (2026)." This comprehensive document outlines 32 strategic initiatives targeting innovative medicine producers, distributors, and medical institutions. These measures are designed to capitalize on Beijing's preeminent position as an international hub for scientific and technological innovation, spurring advancements in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors and championing the high-quality progression of innovative drugs and medical devices. The specific measures are systematically divided into seven sections, encompassing 32 distinct tasks. These include bolstering international clinical trial capabilities, integrating avant-garde technologies such as AI forecasting, organoids, and organ-on-a-chip systems, fortifying collaborative innovation efforts, propelling biobank development, streamlining the conversion of innovative research into practical applications, expediting the market approval process for innovative drugs and medical devices, deepening review and approval reforms, enhancing the service capabilities of industrial platforms, facilitating the expansion of pharmaceutical and medical device production, and accelerating the digital and intelligent transformation within the pharmaceutical industry.
