Disney had committed to investing $1 billion in OpenAI and becoming its client, but now it appears relieved that the investment has not yet been executed. Last December, the theme park and entertainment giant reached an agreement with OpenAI to license its cartoon characters for use in OpenAI's video generation tool, Sora, and agreed on investment and collaboration matters. However, on Tuesday, OpenAI decided to shut down Sora, prompting Disney to abandon the entire deal, including the planned investment.
