On March 24, Anthropic announced the addition of a new “Computer Use” feature to its AI assistant, Claude. Currently available as a research preview for Pro and Max users, this functionality is integrated into two desktop products: Claude Cowork and Claude Code. Claude can now autonomously plan task steps and display the operational plan before each execution, awaiting user confirmation. The core highlight of this update is the Dispatch feature, which allows users to place orders on their mobile phones for execution on the computer, while also supporting scheduled and recurring tasks. In terms of operational logic, Claude prioritizes the use of third-party integrated services. If no corresponding connector is available, it will request screen access permissions. However, at this stage, the screen control feature is limited to the macOS system and is only available to Pro and above subscribers. Users need to update their desktop app and access a designated page to enable it. Additionally, users have full control over their privacy, but this feature is not applicable to regulated industries. It is worth noting that this is not Anthropic's first attempt at a Computer Use feature. This integration marks its product line's evolution to a usable stage, with subsequent updates planned based on user feedback. The timeline for Windows version support has not yet been announced.
