Recently, a number of voice actors have come forward to voice their strong opposition against the unauthorized gathering of their voice samples for AI training, timbre synthesis, and commercial exploitation, all conducted without their awareness or consent. Take Ye Qing, a renowned voice actor who has lent his voice to iconic characters like Lai Siu-Kuen in 'Comrades: Almost a Love Story' and Lau Kin-ming in 'Infernal Affairs', as an example. He recently discovered that an AI-generated short drama on a short video platform had employed what sounded like “Ye Qing’s voice” for the protagonist’s narration. In an interview, Ye Qing remarked on the uncanny accuracy with which the AI short drama replicated his voice. Li Longbin, a voice director and actor, also shared that he often grapples with similar infringement problems.
