On March 21, Reuters cited an internal memo stating that the U.S. Department of Defense plans to officially designate Palantir's Maven artificial intelligence system, a data analysis company, as a documented project for the U.S. military. In a letter dated March 9 addressed to the Pentagon and U.S. military commanders, Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve VanBerger indicated that the move aims to promote the widespread adoption of the company's weapon-targeting technology within the U.S. military and secure long-term funding support. The decision is expected to take effect before the end of the current fiscal year in September this year.
