On March 20, Tencent released an internal memo stating that its AI Lab would be dissolved, and the relevant staff members would be reassigned to the Large Language Model Department and the Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration Center. Jiang Jie, who is Tencent's Vice President, will step down from his role as the head of AI Lab, although his other positions will remain intact. He concurrently holds the positions of Vice President in both the Corporate Development Group (CDG) and the Technology Engineering Group (TEG). Founded in 2016, AI Lab was dedicated to fundamental AI research and played a role in the development of Tencent's Hunyuan large language model.
