On March 20, news emerged that Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) is set to introduce autonomous robots equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) into sectors such as security, waste disposal, and various other work environments by 2030. This initiative is designed to tackle labor shortages and enhance overall productivity. In pursuit of this goal, the government, in collaboration with the private sector, will co-develop a cutting-edge AI system to act as the "brain" for these robots. METI is also poised to unveil a comprehensive roadmap for the "AI Robot Strategy," detailing key steps for development and widespread adoption.
