On March 18, sources revealed that Tencent’s Hunyuan series large-scale model, HY 3.0, is presently undergoing internal business testing and is slated for an official release in April 2026. As a major upgrade, HY 3.0 showcases notable enhancements in core performance compared to its predecessor, HY 2.0, with a special emphasis on refining reasoning and agent functionalities. Since the latter half of 2025, the Hunyuan team has undergone a comprehensive architectural and procedural overhaul, aimed at improving the quality of training data and revamping the associated infrastructure. In September of the same year, Yao Shunyu joined Tencent as Chief AI Scientist, taking charge of overseeing the Hunyuan model’s development. HY 3.0 marks the first significant large-scale model product under his leadership since his tenure began.
