On March 18 (Wednesday), Samsung Electronics and AMD jointly declared that they had entered into a memorandum of understanding aimed at fortifying their strategic alliance in the realm of memory chip provision for artificial intelligence infrastructure. This collaborative effort will center around supplying Samsung's cutting-edge HBM4 memory for AMD's forthcoming Instinct MI455X AI accelerator, along with fine-tuned DDR5 memory tailored for AMD's sixth-generation EPYC processors. Beyond that, both entities will probe into foundry partnerships, with Samsung potentially stepping in as a contract chip manufacturer for AMD's next-gen offerings. As per the accord, Samsung is set to emerge as a pivotal HBM4 provider for AMD's next-generation GPUs.
