Following the public launch of Tencent's 'Lobster' WorkBuddy, the platform experienced login and service disruptions due to an unexpected surge in traffic. The Tencent Cloud Code Assistant CodeBuddy team issued an apology for the inconvenience and offered compensation to affected users. Fortunately, the issue has now been successfully resolved. Lately, the domestic 'Lobster Battle' has escalated, largely triggered by the emergence of the open-source AI agent software OpenClaw. In response, Tencent introduced the 'Lobster Family Bundle,' encompassing products like WorkBuddy and QClaw. Meanwhile, ByteDance, Alibaba, and other tech giants have also entered the competitive arena. Concurrently, several local governments have rolled out policies to bolster this burgeoning trend.

However, the endeavor of 'raising lobsters' (a metaphor for developing and managing AI agents) is not without its security risks. The National Internet Emergency Center has issued risk warnings and provided recommendations to mitigate potential threats. In addition, Tencent has implemented both local and cloud-based security measures to safeguard its offerings. Furthermore, earlier this year, Ma Huateng disclosed that Tencent Cloud was on track to achieve scalable profitability by 2025. On March 11, Tencent Cloud announced that it would revise the pricing strategy for certain models on its agent development platform, effective from March 13, thus joining the wave of price increases. Whether Tencent can distinguish itself in this fiercely competitive landscape has become a focal point of considerable interest.
