According to the "2025 China Mobile Internet Annual Report," as of December 2025, the number of monthly active users on China's mobile internet soared to 1.276 billion. There was a 6% year-on-year increase in the average daily usage time per user, and a 2.1% rise in the number of uses across the entire network. Notably, the proportion of users under the age of 24 has seen a decline, whereas the proportion of users over 51 has witnessed an uptick.
In 2025, new niches emerged within the mobile internet sphere. User time dedicated to AIGC (AI-Generated Content) experienced rapid growth. The "audio book listening" niche, in particular, gained immense popularity, with the total monthly user time increment outstripping that of several other niches.
Leading tech behemoths have ramped up their "battle for entry points" in AI-native app platforms. Among the top 50 AI applications ranked by monthly active users in December, Alibaba, Baidu, Douyin, and Tencent collectively accounted for 64% of the market share.
As of December, Tencent, Douyin, and Alibaba secured the top three positions in terms of total unique users among prominent tech companies. Their user bases stood at 1.275 billion, 1.240 billion, and 1.238 billion, respectively, marking year-on-year growth rates of 1.5%, 11.9%, and 3.7%. Moreover, the monthly active user bases for domestic AI applications on mobile, AI assistants from smartphone manufacturers, and PC platforms reached 722 million, 559 million, and 205 million, respectively.
