During the 2026 sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), Zhou Yunjie, an NPC deputy and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Haier Group, centered his attention on the growth of the artificial intelligence (AI) sector. He put forward a proposal to expedite the advancement of embodied AI to enhance industrial intelligence capabilities. He highlighted that embodied AI, representing a path for the profound integration of AI and robotics technology, serves as a pivotal means to foster new, high-quality productive forces and propel the intelligent transformation of the manufacturing industry. China must capitalize on strategic opportunities to facilitate the widespread deployment of embodied AI within the industrial landscape.
Zhou Yunjie is of the opinion that although China has already laid a solid groundwork in domains such as AI foundational models, robot bodies, and core components, embodied AI still encounters obstacles in technology integration, data and simulation, the extent of scenario applications, and standard systems. To overcome these hurdles, he recommended making breakthroughs in key core technologies, constructing industrial infrastructure, establishing industrial-grade standard systems, and carrying out industry application demonstrations.
