According to sources familiar with the matter, Oracle and OpenAI have abandoned plans to expand their flagship AI data center in Texas, as financing issues and changes in OpenAI's requirements have hindered negotiations between the two parties. The plan was originally part of the Stargate project, announced by Trump in January this year, with related companies set to invest up to $500 billion. Although some bases are already operational, both sides have decided not to proceed with the expansion. After the breakdown of negotiations, Meta may have the opportunity to lease the site for the expansion. Nvidia has already paid a deposit of $150 million and is pushing for Meta to become the tenant. In September this year, OpenAI and others announced plans to build five new AI data centers in the United States, including the expansion of Oracle's Abilene site.
