In a bid to propel its artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) ventures forward, Meta has made substantial investments in smart glasses. However, recent revelations about its internal procedures have sparked privacy concerns globally. According to several data annotators working for the Kenyan outsourcing firm Sama, they are tasked with reviewing and annotating a significant volume of unedited video footage captured by the 'live AI' functionality of Meta's smart glasses on a daily basis. These videos encompass not only routine daily interactions but also private, and in some cases, distressing content.
