According to a report by The Information on February 25, 2026, local time, OpenAI has recruited Pang Ruoming, former head of Apple's AI foundational models team and current head of infrastructure at Meta's Superintelligence Lab. Pang left Apple about seven months ago to join Meta and recently transitioned to OpenAI after several months of recruitment efforts by the company. Previous reports indicated that Pang received a multi-year compensation package worth over $200 million when joining Meta last year. At Apple, Pang led a team of hundreds to develop large language models supporting Apple Intelligence, while at Meta, he spearheaded infrastructure development for next-generation AI models.
