On February 25 (local time), Anthropic made public its acquisition of Vercept, a startup specializing in PC agent applications. Vercept's Vy service will be discontinued within 30 days, representing Anthropic's second publicly announced acquisition. It's worth noting that Vercept's co-founder, Matt Deitke, secured a high-paying position at Meta last year. Anthropic has stated that the Vercept team will contribute to enhancing its AI-driven computer usage capabilities and will work to improve the multitasking performance of the Claude assistant in real-time applications. Vercept, founded by alumni from the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence, has developed technology capable of manipulating computers to complete tasks. This strategic acquisition is poised to significantly bolster Anthropic's competitiveness within the AI agent sector.
