On February 25 (local time), Anthropic made public its acquisition of Vercept, a startup specializing in PC agent applications. Vercept's Vy service will be discontinued within 30 days, representing Anthropic's second publicly announced acquisition. It's worth noting that Vercept's co-founder, Matt Deitke, secured a high-paying position at Meta last year. Anthropic has stated that the Vercept team will contribute to enhancing its AI-driven computer usage capabilities and will work to improve the multitasking performance of the Claude assistant in real-time applications. Vercept, founded by alumni from the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence, has developed technology capable of manipulating computers to complete tasks.
