Shanghai Jiao Tong University has officially launched Optics GPT, a specialized vertical large model tailored for the optics sector. Dubbed as a "virtual expert" within the optical realm, this model marks a significant stride in the field. To ensure its proficiency, the research team meticulously crafted a professional evaluation dataset specifically for the optics domain. Subsequently, they conducted a series of comparative tests, pitting Optics GPT against several leading general-purpose and open-source large models. The outcomes were remarkable; Optics GPT consistently outperformed its counterparts across all core evaluation dimensions. This accomplishment underscores a pivotal insight: with targeted and well-structured training, even compact models can eclipse their larger, more generalized counterparts in specialized vertical domains. Optics GPT is distinguished by four core attributes: its lightweight deployment, enabling easy integration; high cognitive capability, ensuring deep understanding; robust applicability, making it versatile across various scenarios; and full controllability, providing users with precise command over its operations.
