Speaking at the Davos Forum, Jensen Huang, the founder of NVIDIA, asserted that AI stands as the most extensive infrastructure endeavor in human history, with anticipated total investments soaring into the trillions of dollars. He posited that AI won't merely supplant human jobs; rather, it will spawn higher-value employment opportunities by automating routine tasks. Taking radiologists as a case in point, he elucidated that once AI takes over the task of image interpretation, doctors can operate with greater efficiency, enabling them to channel more energy into diagnostic endeavors that truly align with their professional calling.
Huang also introduced a 'five-tiered cake' framework for AI, which comprises energy, chips, cloud infrastructure, AI models, and the application layer. He underscored that the very process of AI development will generate a substantial number of high-skilled, well-paying jobs. This includes, for instance, the demand for proficient workers in the construction of chip fabrication plants and AI facilities.
