In an exclusive interview conducted on the 23rd, Megat Zuhari bin Megat Tajuddin, the Director-General of Malaysia's National Cyber Security Agency, emphasized that China, possessing extensive experience in cutting-edge technological domains, stands as a crucial partner for Malaysia in capacity-building initiatives. He stated that Malaysia is committed to further deepening its cooperation with China in the realms of artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. Both nations have shown a strong, shared commitment to technology localization and enhancing technological sovereignty.

Addressing the ongoing debate surrounding the AI model 'Grok' integrated into the social media platform X, Zuhari clarified that Malaysia's current restrictive measures are designed to strike a balance between fostering technological innovation and safeguarding the interests of its citizens. He stressed that AI applications must be grounded in a well-defined ethical framework. In line with this, Malaysia is expediting the enhancement of pertinent legislation, crafting adaptable and dynamically adjustable AI safety guidelines, and promoting the development of tools for AI safety governance.
