Facing pressure on advertising revenue and diminishing certainty in cash flow, Baidu is actively seeking new avenues for business expansion. On January 23rd, the company announced a strategic realignment, consolidating its Wenku and Baidu Netdisk services under the newly formed Personal Super Intelligence Group (PSIG). Under this new structure, Vice President Wang Ying will directly report to Li Yanhong, Baidu's chairman and CEO.

Baidu Netdisk and Wenku stand out as two of Baidu's fastest-growing businesses, characterized by a high degree of AI integration. Between 2024 and 2025, these two services have seen their synergies deepen, culminating in the joint launch of AI-powered office applications. While Baidu's Mobile Ecosystem Group (MEG) has traditionally relied on information feed and search advertising for revenue, advertising income has been on a steady decline since 2025.

In contrast, Wenku and Baidu Netdisk have adopted a software subscription model, positioning them as more stable profit generators with the potential to evolve into an independent Business Group (BG). In the third quarter of 2025, Baidu's AI application revenue surged to 2.6 billion yuan. Wenku and Baidu Netdisk boast nearly 300 million monthly active users, with a significant portion of their core subscription-paying user base hailing from third-tier, fourth-tier, and lower-tier markets, contributing several billion yuan in annual revenue.

Looking beyond domestic markets, overseas expansion has emerged as a key strategic focus for Baidu's growth. The international iteration of Baidu Netdisk, known as TeraBox, has garnered over 23 million daily active users. However, it also confronts stiff competition in overseas markets. The success of Wenku and Baidu Netdisk as Baidu's new growth engines will hinge on increasing user subscriptions and advancing commercialization efforts in international markets.
