On January 21, the General Office of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government unveiled a series of policy initiatives aimed at leveraging artificial intelligence to drive high-caliber growth within the transportation sector. These initiatives advocate for the advancement and innovation of pivotal technologies, including autonomous driving capabilities and platooning systems tailored for freight vehicles. They also emphasize the seamless integration of a spectrum of cutting-edge technologies, encompassing autonomous driving, 5G connectivity, radar-vision synergy, video surveillance tracking, and vehicle-infrastructure interoperability.
Concurrently, regions deemed suitable are urged to undertake intelligent driving platoon trials for freight vehicles, particularly in contexts such as port inland transportation and routes connecting manufacturing hubs to logistics parks, thereby paving the way for the establishment of intelligent logistics corridors. Moreover, there is a concerted effort to explore the extensive utilization of unmanned transport solutions within the freight industry. This involves fostering the commercial deployment of autonomous heavy trucks across diverse scenarios, including multimodal transportation networks, dedicated logistics routes, and enclosed industrial parks. Additionally, the policy framework encourages the exploration of synergistic development between autonomous driving technologies and new energy heavy trucks, thereby bolstering innovation within the automotive sector.
